Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov maintained a strong position and took 13th place in the “National Rating of Governors”, entering the TOP 20 of the country’s strongest managers.

The results of the assessment of the activities of the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in March–April 2024 were published by the Information Communications Center “Rating” as part of the “National Rating” project.
According to experts and observers, the presidential elections confirmed that the situation in the region is under the complete control of the governor and his team. Foreign observers were struck by the technical organization and openness of the elections in the Novosibirsk region. The turnout of Novosibirsk residents was a record for the last 20 years: two-thirds of the region’s voters voted and 84% of them cast their votes for Vladimir Putin. And a positive background around the region was created by the first cosmonaut from Novosibirsk, Anna Kikina, who was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
Andrei Travnikov’s position was further strengthened after the election of a new mayor of Novosibirsk, who became a member of his team, Maxim Kudryavtsev. Experts believe that this will allow the governor to get rid of the need to negotiate with the opposition and fully concentrate on the regional agenda, without being distracted by solving current municipal issues.
The constructive relationship between Travnikov’s team and the regional legislative assembly was also noted. The governor’s report on the work of the government of the Novosibirsk region in 2023 and the plan for implementing citizens’ orders for 2024 were approved by deputies. The application for the creation of the first special economic zone with an anchor investor, which will be the Sibirsky logistics center, sent by the region to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, was considered by experts to be consistent with the federal trend of optimizing logistics and “turning to the East.”
The results of the rating were also influenced by the fact that the region is actively developing competencies in the field of science and digital technologies, for which it received high praise from the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov and the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadayev.
Evidence of the stable position of the governor of the Novosibirsk region is also the regular receipt of additional funds from the federal budget. In 2024, the Novosibirsk region will receive two additional tranches: 8.4 million rubles for the comprehensive development of rural areas and 160 million rubles for the development of the Technopark infrastructure.
According to political scientist, professor at the Siberian Institute of Management Sergei Biryukov, Andrei Travnikov today is one of the highest-rated governors in the country. He successfully copes with current work related to the development of industry and education; construction and repair of roads, support for military personnel participating in the Northern Military District, and also pays attention to adapting the region’s economy to new conditions. He will have to complete the construction of the intraregional vertical of power and create a management team.
