A secret philanthropist donated 120 thousand rubles for the treatment of a husky hit by a car in Volgograd

--

We talked about the odd-eyed husky Dora a month ago. On March 15, she was hit by a car near the Marmelad shopping center. The helpless dog was noticed by eyewitnesses who took the animal to the veterinarians. Then the story began to spin like a snowball. Dora’s owner decided to abandon her, and caring people began to rescue the dog, who, even after everything they had experienced, do not consider themselves volunteers.

Tatyana claims that before this story with Dora she had never been involved in volunteering and rescuing dogs. After the owner of the downed dog admitted that he could not help Dora, other people began to save her. This story did not leave residents from other cities indifferent. So the husky got a curator named Irina, who took full responsibility for her.

Here’s what’s been happening to Dora over the past month:

“Our team decided to see the matter through to the end, no matter the cost. They tried to get us emotional, there was psychological pressure from the former owners and their acquaintances, there were even some threats.

The necessary amount for the operation after the accident for Dora was collected with the help of kind people. Finally, the veterinarians could begin the operation, since Dora, let us remind you, suffered a displaced pelvic fracture in an accident. She was very lucky, the spine remained intact, which meant that the dog had every chance of returning to a full life. Therefore, Volgograd residents decided to fight.

From the former owner, Tatyana says, they managed to find out that Dora was picked up from the street a couple of years ago. A new surprise awaited everyone during preparation for the operation. When the dog’s hair was shaved off, the brand was revealed. So everyone understood that the beautiful Dora is a difficult dog, but with a pedigree, a purebred Siberian husky. Her real nickname according to the documents turned out to be Edelweiss Royal Bagheera:

“Her birth certificate and information about her parents were found, along with the name of her real owner.” In Volgograd in 2019, she even took part in an exhibition! Unfortunately, the real owner has not been found until today. Irina contacted the breeders, but apart from the owner’s name, they could not name anything else.

Then Volgograd residents learned that Dora-Baghira survived the capture procedure several years ago. The husky was caught by catchers in the Voroshilovsky district on Yeletskaya Street. At the time of capture, the dog was sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped and released. So the elite dog again began to wander the streets of Volgograd until he probably met his new owner.

After a very difficult operation, they suddenly remembered Dora, Tatyana continued:

“We received intrusive calls from the former owner, he demanded the return of the dog. But… where? At that time, she had just undergone a complex operation, did not get up, and did not eat anything. The phrase “houses and walls heal” put an end to this issue. We realized that we couldn’t return it, the dog would be in danger.

After some time, Dora felt better and the question arose about moving from the clinic to foster care. In this situation, the same ordinary caring man named Valery helped:

“He found out where Dora would be taken after the accident, paid some bills and came in his car to help with the transportation. Thank you very much, Valery! It seemed that we had done it all and it was just a matter of little things….

The worst thing began on the evening of March 20. For some reason, Dora refused to eat, became lethargic, and her urine turned dark. The clock ticked down – this time the dog was suspected of having piroplasmosis (the disease is associated with the activity of tick vectors in the warm season, the risk of death of the animal is extremely high):

“If it weren’t for the responsible approach to the work of the foster care people, our ward would no longer be alive!” They injected the medicine and rushed with Dora to the hospital, where they did a test, the terrible diagnosis was confirmed. It was a nightmare – again huge money, terrible tests and the possibility that we would lose Dora forever. The chances of death were much greater than those of life.

Dora went through a blood transfusion procedure, and before that, the search for a donor, who was lucky to be found within a couple of hours thanks to publicity on the Telegram channel. Then there were: x-rays, ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, heart. Volunteers never stopped paying one bill after another:

— From March 20 to March 30, Dora was in the hospital under the supervision of doctors. The tests continued to be terrible, her vital organs were failing: kidneys, liver… But the thirst to live took over. Dora survived against all odds.

And on March 30, we had to start treating necrosis:

– We thought that this epic would never end! At a scheduled visit to the clinic on April 21, the doctors were honest – they did not expect that the dog would ever come here on its four legs. It was a great joy for us, Dora started walking!

In total, 170 thousand rubles were spent on the treatment of the refusenik husky, Tatyana does not hide. All this is money from people who could not leave their dog in trouble; the amounts were transferred even by residents of other regions. The secret philanthropist couldn’t stay away and donated 120 thousand rubles to save the husky. Tatyana admitted that this man has become a real guardian angel of the dog, all funds will be spent only on the most necessary things. A lot of food has already been purchased, the training course has been paid for:

“We cannot name this person because he wished to remain anonymous. – A huge thank you to everyone! Thank you for the anti-bedsore mattress, for the offers of help with training, for finding a donor, to all the doctors who fought for her life, to the foster care facility where she is now, for the unity and for her sincere feelings. Thanks to the editors of Notebook Volgograd for their assistance. Thanks to you, we were able to do what we did!

Unfortunately, Dora’s true owner still cannot be found. After some time, the odd-eyed huskies will begin to look for a new family and a new home.

The tragic story of an odd-eyed fluffy beauty, one of her eyes is brown and the other is sky blue, can be read here. According to the dog’s last owners, they still made a difficult decision when they abandoned Dora. At that moment they could not do otherwise. After the incident, the rescuers conducted their own investigation to fully find out that Dora was hit by a car. Here they obtained recordings from street surveillance cameras in the Dzerzhinsky district. It was alleged that the dog was hit by a black tinted Tesla. A certain blonde girl was seen driving.
