As reported by the press service of the regional department of Rosselkhoznadzor, large batches of cuttings grown in Kenya, Ecuador and the Netherlands did not pass quarantine control in April 2024.

Western California flower thrips left its dangerous necrosis and excrement on 2,250 carnations, 600 solidagos, 350 roses, 280 chrysanthemums and 220 alstroemerias. The insect also sent 200 gypsophila, 120 helianthus and 100 ozothamnus into the oven.

60 eustomes were destroyed by the tobacco whitefly, a butterfly that sucks plant juices and transmits phytopathogenic viruses.

“In April, the volume of cuttings on which quarantine objects were identified amounted to more than 40% of the total number of infected flowers that were not allowed for further sale since the beginning of 2024,” the department noted.

Last week, 13 pigeons arriving on a flight from Tajikistan did not pass control at Tolmachevo airport.
