The VI festival of book culture “KnigaMart-2024” was held in Irkutsk, Ust-Kut and Ust-Ordynsky with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Irkutsk Region, the Irkutsk Oil Company and the bookselling group “ProdaLit”.

The opening of “KnigaMart” in Irkutsk took place on March 22 at the Irkutsk Regional Scientific Library named after I. Molchanov-Sibirsky. On this day, thirteen events took place at the venues of Molchanovka, library No. 16 named after. D. G. Sergeev and the “Revolution” gallery.

Thus, in Molchanovka, INRTU teachers Pavel Lontsikh, Raisa Lobatskaya, Elena Berman and the creators of the “Utkin’s Time” project Ilya Podkovenko and Evgenia Demina presented their books. Lectures as part of the professional program were given by Pavel Lushnikov (Moscow), a team of librarians from St. Petersburg, and Natalya Shirkova (Moscow). Yuri Yashnikov held a presentation of the new documentary series “Film Interview”. Sergey Volkov presented the website “Baikal Land”. The opening of the “Middle-earth” space took place. In library No. 16 named after Dmitry Sergeev, a meeting was held with the writer and poet Alena Shipitsyna. In the “Revolution” gallery – a meeting with the architect, director and editor-in-chief of the TATLIN publishing house Eduard Kubensky.

Due to the tragic events at Crocus City Hall and national mourning, some festival events scheduled for March 23 and 24 have been postponed to April 20. In the afternoon, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the regional competition “Best Book of the Year – 2023” took place in Molchanovka.

And a little later, during the book night of the year, twelve more events took place: five master classes from teachers of the School of Creative Industries, a joint creative evening of the Poets in the City community and ShKI, where Artem Mors, Svetlana Mikheeva, Dmitry Belykh, Alexander Zhuravsky, premiere of Andrei Yudin’s documentary “Vampilov is here” and the play “Date” at the Businki theater studio, creative meeting with Marianna Yazeva, presentation of Sergei Yazev’s book.

More than three hundred people visited the BookMart festival on March 19-20 in Ust-Kut, where presentations of the books “Flying” by Mikhail Deniskin, “Farewell to Olkhon” by Svetlana Burdinskaya and the “Cinema Interview” project by Yuri Yashnikov were held.

More than a hundred spectators visited the Ust-Orda National Library named after M. N. Khangalov on March 22, where books by Svetlana Burdinskaya were presented, and guests from Buryatia also spoke: Alexander Perenov, Batozhargal Darmaev, Olga Erdyneeva, Oktyabrina Damdinzhapova, Alexey Gatapov, Alexander Makhachkeev.

The organizers of the festival are the Irkutsk Regional State Universal Scientific Library named after. I. I. Molchanov-Sibirsky and the New Alliance NGO support fund. In total, 3,334 people attended the festival events, and video recordings of the events on April 24 had already received 10,948 views.

Until April 28 in Molchanovka you can visit four exhibitions collected especially for the KnigaMart audience: “New covers of your favorite works”, “Art Collection”, “Watercolor free verse by Yulia Luchkina” and “Artistic image of a book. From idea to implementation.”

Let us remind you that “KnigaMart” is an international festival of book culture, the program of which includes lectures and master classes, performances, book presentations, round tables, and a book talk show. It was first held in March 2019 in Irkutsk, Usolye-Sibirskoye, Cheremkhovo and Angarsk.

“KnigaMart” is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Irkutsk Region, LLC “Irkutsk Oil Company” and the bookselling group “ProdaLit”.
