In 2024, for the first time in the Irkutsk region, May 14, a single Day of Remembrance, or Radonitsa, is declared a non-working (holiday) day. Officially, the non-working day was adopted in 2023 in the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region and established by regional law at the proposal of Metropolitan Maximilian of Irkutsk and Angarsk in connection with mass visits to cemeteries, churches and other places of remembrance by residents of the Irkutsk Region.
Similar legal acts are in force in a number of regions of the Russian Federation. Remembrance Day has been declared a regional holiday and a non-working day in the Saratov and Penza regions, the Stavropol Territory, the Republic of Adygea, and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. This was reported by the press service of the government of the Irkutsk region.
The regional Ministry of Labor informed about the provisions of labor legislation relating to holidays and weekends in May. Weekends for the May holidays consist of in two parts, four days each: April 28, 29, 30 and May 1 – weekends for the Spring and Labor holiday, which falls on Wednesday, as well as from May 9 to 12 – four-day weekends associated with the celebration of Victory Day.

— We draw the attention of all employers in the region to the need to respect the labor rights of citizens, including when providing guarantees established by the Labor Code of the Russian Federation regarding work on weekends and non-working holidays. As a general rule, it is prohibited to involve employees in the performance of their work duties on weekends and non-working holidays. However, in some cases, working on weekends and holidays is possible if there is a written consent of the employee and a written order (instruction) of the employer. The cases, procedure and grounds for attraction to work and payment for it are listed in the Labor Code.
