All thanks to the new equipment, it became known to Logos44.ru

Several devices were purchased for the blood transfusion station. The most important is the Trima Accel automated blood collection system. This device is necessary for collecting platelets, plasma and red blood cells from the donor’s blood.

The institution also has hematological and enzyme-linked immunosorbent analyzers. They are used when analyzing a donor’s blood before the procedure for donating biological material. Using these machines, a general blood test is taken from the donor and checked for viral diseases.

“Donors are now more comfortable with the new equipment, especially during plateletpheresis, the process of collecting platelets. Recently, there have been many more donors. They call and ask to come in groups. Therefore, with the new equipment, we will be able to accept more people, since all procedures, including a general blood test, which donors need to take before donating blood, will happen faster,” said the acting director. the head physician of the regional blood transfusion station, Evgeniy Motylev.

Donated blood saves thousands of lives of Kostroma residents every year. It is used in the treatment of patients with anemia, cancer, and severe blood loss during complex operations. The blood of one donor, divided into components, can help several patients at once.

At the end of last year, we purchased 9 units of new advanced equipment. In total, 16 million rubles were allocated to update the material and technical base of the institution.

“We last updated our equipment in 2008. Of course, we are very glad that we received new equipment. It works much faster. For example, a hematology analyzer that does a general blood test from a donor produces results in less than two minutes. Here we can get information about hemoglobin, platelets and more. In general, we receive a complete and detailed analysis of the donor’s blood,” noted Irina Koroleva, head of the clinical diagnostic laboratory.

Experts note that the new devices speed up work. Thanks to this, the waiting time for donation is reduced, and the blood transfusion station will be able to receive seven people at a time. Previously, only four people could donate blood at a time.

Last year, more than 8 thousand Kostroma residents visited the blood transfusion station. In total, in 2023, donors donated 6 thousand liters of blood.

Also at the end of the year, amendments were made to the regional law on awarding the title “Labor Veteran of the Kostroma Region”. Now Honorary Donors of Russia can also apply for this status after developing the required work experience. To date, the title “Labor Veteran of the Kostroma Region” has already been awarded to 91 Honorary Donors.
