– “The capital of Eastern Siberia”, “the gates of Baikal” are undoubted synonyms of Irkutsk as a tourist center. The flow of tourists to Baikal from other regions of Russia is growing at a significant pace, and the number of foreign guests is increasing. And here the first impression of Irkutsk is very important – its appearance, level of improvement, development of tourist infrastructure. Joint work in this direction is already underway. Tourist and pedestrian navigation is being updated, and architectural and artistic lighting has been completed for several ancient buildings in the center of Irkutsk. But the work must continue. I ask you to pay special attention to places of historical memory associated with the victory in the Great Patriotic War. And put it in order on the eve of the anniversary of the victory,” said the head of the region.

Igor Kobzev emphasized that Irkutsk needs global work for comfortable movement around the city, including the reconstruction of roads and the creation of transport interchanges. In addition, city authorities need to pay attention to the condition of the facades of houses, especially in the historical part of the city, and the aesthetic appearance of fences and barriers.

“We saw how buildings are transformed at night after high-quality lighting. Let’s continue this project. It seems to me that all churches in the city should have high-quality lighting. Ruslan Nikolaevich, we will definitely consider all your initiatives and try to support them. “I propose that the city mayor’s office and the regional government hold several joint meetings on the issue of changing the appearance of the city and developing standard recommendations on these issues,” the Governor said.
