At the headquarters of United Russia, with the support of NovSU, a cultural festival “Africa Day” was held. It was timed to coincide with the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace (April 24). The meeting participants were senior medical students of the English-language program at NovSU, schoolchildren from gymnasium No. 4, as well as party representatives.

Now it is very important to develop friendly relations with African countries, — said event organizer Olga Seredina. “Since there are many foreign students in Veliky Novgorod, including from Africa, for us this is work to build good neighborliness.”

The event program included: an art exhibition, a master class in Arabic, a demonstration of national costumes, African vocal performances and a dance marathon.

“Russia and Africa are connected by a centuries-old history, — says Evgeniy Mikhalchenko, president of the Universe of Good Foundation. — In Africa there is an understanding that everything connected with Russian culture is a certain measure of justice, mutual assistance, compassion and understanding. And culture is the bond that will allow the African continent, together with Russia, to build a very strong alliance for many years to come.”

“Africa Day” is taking place in Veliky Novgorod for the first time. The event is included in the party program “Cultural Issue”, and also meets the goals and objectives of the priority regional project “City-University”.
