The flood has become a common disaster for all Orenburg residents and price increases in emergency situations are unacceptable, said Ignat Petukhov, vice-governor of the Orenburg region for economics and investment.

The governor of the Orenburg region, Denis Pasler, previously noted that he hears questions about control over the already rising prices of building materials at every meeting with residents of flooded areas. He added that he had already held a joint meeting with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the prosecutor’s office and the heads of companies producing building materials and retail chains in Orsk, Gai, Novotroitsk and Orenburg. Entrepreneurs, in turn, asked to lift restrictions on the movement of heavy trucks with construction materials in the spring and to organize a temporary bridge for the delivery of timber from Bashkiria. The regional prosecutor’s office is also monitoring the situation.

— If there is an increase in prices, be sure to write. It doesn’t matter what we’re talking about – building materials or bottled water. We will take action.

Last week we held a large meeting with sellers and manufacturers of building materials. “Leroy Merlin”, “Stroylandia”, and “Construction Boom” were present at it. We have set a clear goal: there should be no price increases. The meeting was held under the leadership of the governor; the prosecutor’s office warned all retail chains against raising prices. But there is a rise in prices, and this is a reason for response measures. People have a big problem, and we need to overcome it together. People do not need words, but concrete decisions and actions. It doesn’t matter if businessmen profit from people’s misfortune. If we see violations, we will go out, talk, control, see who raised the price – the seller or the manufacturer. If necessary, take punitive measures. There is an agreement with the federal Ministry of Industry to freeze prices,” noted Ignat Petukhov.

The vice-governor also added on the air of State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Orenburg that not only the sale of goods, but also the service sector is under control. In particular – taxis.

— We also took personal control of the story with Yandex Taxi. In particular, payments for trips to temporary temporary accommodation centers are reset to zero. Initially there were cases of overpricing, but now there are fewer of them. In Orsk, taxi drivers increased the cost of trips to some areas, but now this is no longer the case. We are in touch with the management of Yandex Taxi. Our goal is to make sure that no one makes money from adversity.

Previously, Orenburg residents have repeatedly complained about rising prices for a variety of categories of goods and services, primarily building materials and bottled water. Entrepreneurs, in turn, announced a shortage of some goods and services.
