The competition is held by the university’s Business School. Graduates of the class of 2024 of all forms of education can become participants, both individually and in teams of no more than two people. To do this, you need to fill out an application on the website with a brief presentation of the project and attach a thesis that meets the criteria of the competition.
“Every year, about 100 graduates of Russian universities take part in our competition. They present projects in various engineering fields, get acquainted with the entrepreneurship ecosystem at TPU and receive feedback from external experts from the circle of existing entrepreneurs. Thus, among the winners of last year’s competition were a sensor device for measuring the optical characteristics of a substance, a program for recognizing typical figures on a Japanese candlestick-type stock price chart, three-dimensional interactive models using VR, and a technological solution to improve the efficiency of gas production and treatment at later stages field development,” says the director of the Business School of Tomsk Polytechnic Natalya Chistyakova.
The competition will be held in three directions: “New product/service”, “Business model for introducing a new product/service to the market” and “New product/service and business model for introducing it/it to the market”. Students’ projects must be original and independently developed, have a sound business model, meet real market conditions and be ready to attract investment.
The competition will be held remotely in three stages. Participants and teams that pass the qualifying stage advance to the finals. The students’ startup projects will be assessed by teachers from the Tomsk Polytechnic University Business School and competition partners. They will look at the relevance of the problem and its understanding, attractiveness for customers, partners and investors, the originality of the proposed solution and its feasibility, as well as a competent forecast of losses if the problem is not solved and the quality of presentation.
All competition participants will receive a certificate of participation, and the winners will be able to enter the Tomsk Polytechnic Business School in the “Innovation” direction without entrance examinations.

The partners of the All-Russian VKR competition in the form of startups at TPU are the Administration of the Tomsk Region, the Union of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Tomsk Region and the personnel center “Work of Russia”.
