Yesterday evening, April 24, a video appeared on the VKontakte social network of police in Tver on an electric scooter chasing a traffic rule violator driving a similar vehicle.
In the Tver Incident group, the video is accompanied by a humorous comment: “To catch a criminal, you need to think like a criminal.” However, there is little fun in the situation with scooters in Tver.
The Tver State Traffic Inspectorate conducts a daily SIM Driver raid. During the event, police identify electric scooter drivers who violate traffic rules. With the onset of spring, a lot of SIM (personal mobility device) drivers have appeared in the city, who neglect the traffic rules.
Of the latest cases: April 23 at about 07:00. 20 minutes. near 4A on Promyshlenny Proezd Tver, the driver of an electric scooter, when changing lanes, did not give way to a Renault Logan car, which was moving in the same direction. As a result of the accident, the driver of the scooter was injured.
The Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Tver notes that among the violators there are a lot of minors who do not understand the dangers of driving this vehicle. Many parents succumb to persuasion and give their child their account, with the help of which the children rent a rental electric scooter – such cases, unfortunately, are not uncommon.
Traffic inspectors conduct preventive conversations with violators and also compile administrative materials. Riding kick-sharing electric scooters is only permitted if you are 18 years of age or older. The fine for violating traffic rules on an electric scooter is 800 rubles, the department recalled.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that when driving a SIM on sidewalks and pedestrian paths, priority remains with pedestrians! Traveling on a SIM card together is prohibited! Before crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing, you must dismount! Driving while intoxicated is prohibited; the fine for such a violation is 1,500 rubles. It is also prohibited to drive a SIM along the edge of the roadway if there is a sidewalk or shoulder.
By the way, the State Duma is discussing the idea of limiting the speed of electric scooters on sidewalks to 8 km/h. The authors of the idea believe that at such a speed of the SIM, pedestrians will have time to react, while the scooter itself will most likely avoid a collision.
