The mayor of Omsk Sergey Shelest in his telegram channel spoke about the International “Garden of Memory” event, which will be held this year for the fifth time. Within its framework, trees are planted throughout Russia and abroad in memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War.

The action has already begun in the southern regions of the country, and last weekend Omsk took up the baton: on Saturday, April 20, in the Leninsky District, on a street named after Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Krylov, chestnuts and apple trees were planted.

“In the coming days, Omsk residents will plant their small memory gardens in all districts of the city. Pyramid poplars and apple trees will appear on the streets of Perelet, Vatutin, Ermolaev, Romanenko, P. Osminin, S. Tyulenin, Kiselyov and Zavertyaev”said the mayor.

The main event of the campaign in Omsk – the planting of 79 trees, according to the number of the anniversary of the Victory in 2024 – will be held in Victory Park this Saturday, April 27.

Even more information about the “Garden of Memory” event, including other events that will take place in Omsk, can be found on the website Sadmemory2024.rf.
