On May 3, in the reading room of the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library, a presentation and screening of the first episode of the new documentary drama “Gatherers of the Russian Land” will take place. At the same time, there will be a presentation of a series of books of the same name, donated to the Kremlin Library by the Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrei Nikitin.

Russia is a great and unique country with a huge territory, and it became great thanks to those who created it: rulers, generals, discoverers, our ancestors – the gatherers of the Russian land.

The new 8-episode project “Gatherers of the Russian Land” will tell about how the borders of Russia have changed throughout its history. The head of the Film Commission of the Novgorod Region, Anastasia Krylova, will talk about the creation of the series.

The first episode of the film “Gatherers of the Russian Land” is dedicated to Rurik, who founded the country’s first ruling dynasty. His descendants moved the capital from Novgorod to Kyiv, fought with the Khazars, Pechenegs and Polovtsians, made campaigns against Byzantium and brought Orthodoxy to Rus’.

Thus, the authors of the project, in some way, repeat the brief historical excursion given by our President Vladimir Putin in his famous interview with journalist Tucker Carlson.

Let us recall that then Vladimir Vladimirovich answered the American’s question “Why do you think that America could deliver an unexpected blow to Russia? How did you come to this conclusion? answered in detail:

“You have a basic education in history, as far as I understand? Then I will allow myself – just 30 seconds or 1 minute – to give a little historical background. Do you mind?

And starting with the calling of the Varangians in 862, in 25 minutes he told the guest the whole history of the Russian land.
