Night noise in the apartment brought a Chelyabinsk pensioner to complain to the prosecutor’s office. Natalya Mamaeva, senior assistant to the head of the regional department, told Vecherka what violations were discovered in the house of Professor Blagikh and what was achieved.

— The woman’s apartment is located on the first floor directly above the technical room of the individual heating unit. In the appeal, the applicant indicated that the noise from the equipment was too loud, especially at night, the department representative clarified.

In connection with the pensioner’s appeal, the Kurchatovsky District Prosecutor’s Office provided the necessary measurements. Experts from the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Chelyabinsk Region were invited to carry them out. The management company that maintains the house also participated in the inspections.

The noise level in the apartment was considered acceptable for the daytime, but completely unacceptable for the night. Considering that at night the heating system in a high-rise building can operate at elevated parameters, serious excesses cannot be ruled out. The management company had to adjust the equipment at the heating point. She also completed the installation of the heating pipe line adjacent to the house. This is another opportunity to reduce the load on equipment.

“Repeated measurements showed that the noise level was consistent regardless of the time of day,” the prosecutor’s office noted.

During the day in a residential area, background noise of up to 40 decibels is considered acceptable, and at night – up to 30. This is comparable to the whisper of a person one meter from the meter or the ticking of a wall clock. Short-term noise during the day should not exceed 55 decibels and 45 at night.

People do not always correctly determine the comfortable noise level. Sometimes even the equipment that works in the apartment can negatively affect your well-being: a fan or some types of air humidifiers.
