“In Rostov, a land plot has been formed on the territory of the Platovsky residential area for a center for stray animals. The plot of 4.93 hectares is remote from residential development,” she shared.

According to her, at the end of last year a positive conclusion was received on the reliability of determining the estimated cost of design and survey work. The design period for the facility will be more than 20 months.

Maria Petrova added that the issue of allocating funds from the local budget for design and survey work will be considered in the second half of 2024 when the budget is adjusted.

Earlier, First Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services Sergei Orlov, during his speech at a round table meeting “Issues of organizing activities for the treatment of animals without owners,” said that a second municipal shelter for stray animals could be built in Rostov. According to him, the new shelter will be able to house up to 2,000 animals. It is also planned to build a temporary home for 200 individuals in Taganrog.
