A cleanup day was held at the oldest city cemetery on Karl Marx Street; its participants included activists from the regional headquarters of the ONF, Victory volunteers, cadets from the College of State and Municipal Service, the Suvorov School and representatives of the bailiff service.
Volunteers cleaned the graves of participants in the Great Patriotic War, home front workers and townspeople living during the war years. According to the Ulyanovsk administration, it is planned to organize two more cleanup days there in the spring.
It should be noted that earlier public veteran organizations proposed giving this iconic place the status of a military memorial cemetery. Currently, there are more than 20 thousand graves there, half of which belong to participants in several military conflicts; the largest mass grave of soldiers of the Great Patriotic War is located there.
