A May Day demonstration will take place in Novosibirsk

On Wednesday, May 1, the Novosibirsk regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation will hold a traditional May Day demonstration in honor of International Workers’ Solidarity Day. This was reported in the press service of the regional committee.

“At 11:00 the columns gather on the alley of Krasny Prospekt, at the intersection with the street. Krylova, at 11:30 the start of the procession, at 12:00 a meeting on Lenin Square. Secretaries of the Novosibirsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, deputies of the State Duma, the Legislative Assembly and the Council of Deputies of the city of Novosibirsk will take part in the demonstration,” the message says.

In 1918, already in Soviet Russia, May 1 became a public holiday, traditions had already developed – crowded demonstrations with balloons and red flags, by 1933 air parades were added to them, in 1956 May Day demonstrations began to be broadcast on television.

The trendsetter of the “May Day fashion” was the Moscow demonstration on Red Square; this experience was adopted by other cities – this is how themed carts appeared, the formation of festive columns both on a territorial and production basis, and the indispensable participation of musicians.

Last year, the May Day weather in Novosibirsk turned out to be unseasonably harsh and unfriendly, raising the question for every city dweller about the advisability of festive walks and processions in the open air, even as a sign of solidarity with the cherished values ​​of bygone times or with the ideals and idols of the present.

This year, according to the Gismeteo service, the weather will delight Novosibirsk residents on the weekend: on April 28 and 29, the thermometer will show up to +15°C, but by Wednesday, May 1, the air temperature will drop to +4°C.

Earlier, Continent Siberia wrote that a concert would be held on Mikhailovskaya Embankment in honor of the 95th anniversary of the Oktyabrsky district of Novosibirsk.
