In Tambov, an attempt was made on the life of former deputy chairman of the regional Duma Andrei Popov. According to SHOT, he was beaten in his own home. He was taken to intensive care in serious condition with a head injury. Doctors don’t have any prognosis.

61-year-old Andrei Popov is a well-known businessman and official in the city. In the 90s, he began to engage in entrepreneurial activities, and before that he worked at a local cultural and sports complex as a coach. In 2001, he became director of the Tambov Bread Factory. Afterwards, first as a deputy of the regional Duma, and then as its first deputy chairman. He also headed the branch of the Russian Union of Martial Arts in the Tambov region.
