Choreographic performance “Fairy Tale. Point of (no) return” based on a synthesis of different directions of choreography will be shown in Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Kostroma and Ivanovo from May 2 to 6.

The dance performance, in which representatives of folk, modern and street choreography from different cities participate, is the central event of the global creative project “Creating Dance Together”, implemented by the Foundation for the Development of Folk Dance of Natalia Kartashova and Tatyana Reus with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

– For more than 11 years, the Foundation for the Development of Folk Dance of Natalia Kartashova and Tatiana Reus has been supporting and developing amateur folk choreography and popularizing folk dance. Over the past two years, understanding and accepting that the preservation of traditional culture cannot be built only according to a conservative scenario, the Foundation has been actively exploring the possibilities of synthesizing different areas of choreography with folk dance. The upcoming performance is the result of a creative search for forms and techniques that would most effectively introduce and make modern youth fall in love with folk choreography,” says Olga Paley, director of the Kartashova Reus Foundation.

During the performance, a world is created on stage in which the main characters participate in extraordinary events and adventures, encounter magical and fantastic forces. Following the events of the story, viewers will not only again encounter the artistic images of Good and Evil, see the genre of the good old fairy tale in a new light, but will also be convinced of the harmonious coexistence, interweaving and mutual enrichment of different choreographic directions. Dance unites! – say the authors and participants of the play.

The artistic director and chief choreographer of the performance is Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Choreographic Art, South Ural State Institute of Arts. P.I. Tchaikovsky”, laureate of International and All-Russian competitions of ballet dancers and choreographers Yulia Repitsyna. Director: Arseny Ashmarin.

Creative groups from the Ural Federal District take part in the production: dance ensemble “Yeralash” (Chelyabinsk), choreographic studio “Children of Magnitka” (Magnitogorsk), “Natalia Lystsova Dance Theater” (Ekaterinbrug), Dance Studio “Bright Present” “(Nyazepetrovsk).

In each city, local groups will join the Ural dancers. So the Honored Folk Art Group of the Russian Federation dance ensemble “Zdravitsa” will appear on stage in Yaroslavl, in Kostroma – the Exemplary Choreographic Ensemble “Russian Souvenir”, in Ivanovo – “Folk amateur art group“folk dance ensemble “Ivan da Marya”, and in Nizhny Novgorod – a dance group of the song and dance ensemble of the Volga District of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.
