The Ministry of Education of the Irkutsk region explained how schoolchildren will study in May

--

Regional Minister of Education Maxim Parfenov answered questions from residents of the Angara region about creating safe conditions in educational organizations, work schedules in May for teachers and students, and psychological assistance for children.

These and other relevant topics in the field of education are the head of the regional department and the head of the department of control and supervisory activities and public services of the ministry Irina Shlivinskaite covered as part of a live broadcast by the Regional Management Center of the Irkutsk Region on the regional government accounts on the social networks Odnoklassniki and VKontakte.

Regarding school days and days off during the May holidays, the minister explained that the federal law on education in the Russian Federation gives educational organizations the right to independently establish an educational schedule.

– Those schools, colleges and technical schools that operate on a six-day week either continue to work on Saturdays in these May days, or adjust their curricula and rest on weekends and holidays in May, as per the five-day production calendar. I kindly ask parents to treat the decision of the educational organization with understanding, because if necessary and certain family circumstances, you can resolve the issue of your child’s attendance at school with the administration on an individual basis,” commented Maxim Parfenov.

He drew the parents’ attention to the fact that, according to the regional law, this year the Unified Day of Remembrance – May 14 – was declared a non-working (holiday) day. On this day, teaching staff and students of educational organizations will rest.

The Minister also answered questions regarding psychological support for schoolchildren, spoke about the role of class teachers and educational psychologists in identifying adolescent and child-parent conflicts and overcoming them, and recalled that in a difficult situation a child can turn for help to the Children’s Helpline: 8800- 2000-122.

Ahead of the summer holidays, questions have been raised about how to ensure the safety of children at this time when many children are left to their own devices.

According to Irina Shlivinskaite, the school not only organizes preventive activities with students, including on the topic of safe behavior on water, on the roadway, near bodies of water, but also conducts educational work with parents, who, first of all, are responsible for life and children’s health. It is the positive example of safe behavior by the parents themselves that reinforces the rules and skills that children learn in schools with teachers.
