A resident of Novosibirsk went to the Globus to see a play about the legend of Soviet cinema, Faina Ranevskaya. She was outraged by the way Siberians behaved in the theater.

Olga Savelyeva is an avid theatergoer: she regularly buys tickets to performances. Lately, she has been very surprised by the disrespectful attitude of some people towards the rest of the audience in the hall and the actors. Moreover, not only young, but also fully grown Novosibirsk residents do not know how to behave in the theater. The last time the Siberian woman watched the production “Ranevskaya. Lonely Mocker” in the Globe.

“Before the start of the performance, they always announce that you need to switch your phone to silent mode. But this doesn’t happen. Just a nightmare! Imagine Ranevskaya’s monologue, and then one person’s phone was ringing, then another’s! They sat right next to me, leaned over, looked in my bag, and, worst of all, they answered and talked without hesitation!” – Olga Savelyeva told Gorsayt.

According to the Siberian woman, calls are not the only problem.

“Understand, this is not just some ill-mannered spectator. A lot of them! One was constantly corresponding with someone, the other was generally on the marketplace, making purchases. Why did you even come to the theater? Were you forced here?”

Olga said that several microphones were installed below, the actors spoke without amplification. I had to listen closely to hear what they were saying.

“They kept talking, they were afraid of being late for the train, they were always discussing something: “Maybe we should leave the performance early?” It really feels like people were forced to go to the theater.”

According to Olga, this actually happens quite often. If not all the tickets are sold out, then the theaters distribute them through some of their channels in order to fill the hall.

“I watched this performance for a very long time, the hall was half empty. We can say that less than half of the tickets were purchased. And when I came, the hall was full. There was even a moment when the actor fell silent for a while. It was clear that this was not according to the script. I’m very embarrassed. I’m generally an observant person, I notice and take note of everything. The actors, by the way, are not local. This is a troupe from Moscow, almost all of them appear in TV series and films. What will they think about Novosibirsk?”

Despite the problems, Olga really liked the performance.

“You know, at the end tears came to my eyes. They showed the life of Faina Ranevskaya, a famous person, but she died alone. I recommend going. But the audience was talking among themselves, sharing candy, asking for an apple, and eating during the performance. It’s such a shame.”

Olga also spoke about another unpleasant incident. This time at the Opera House.

“I went to see “Three Sisters” at NOVAT. The Moscow Art Theater came. I was still happy when an elderly woman sat down with me, I think, well, at least not young people, she will behave with dignity. And away we go – the text messages came to her endlessly, but oh well, she turned off the sound. But he still sits and writes messages. This bright light shines straight into my eyes. Here is our short dialogue:

– Put the phone away.

– Now.

– Put away the phone, you are shining it in my eyes, blinding me, preventing me from watching the performance.

– It’s okay, be patient.

– What do you mean, will you be patient? I paid money for the performance, why should I endure?

– Why are you making noise here? Shut up.

“I won’t shut up until you put your phone away.” Now I will ask you to be taken out.

Can you imagine? Well, this is disgusting! Stay at home and text as much as you like! In the end, she put the phone away, but then sat there for the rest of the time, grumbling at me.”

Olga added that it would be nice if theater staff would take such ill-mannered spectators out of the hall. But, of course, not a single theater will agree to this.

Gorsayt previously told how a guy with Down syndrome from Novosibirsk played “The Ugly Duckling.”
