Two former police officers received suspended sentences for manipulation during a pre-investigation check. This was reported to the Investigative Committee.

A woman contacted the authorities to report the theft of her mobile phone and bank card. Taking an explanation from the victim, the men wrote that the property was allegedly lost. The woman signed the document without reading it, after which the initiation of a criminal case was refused.

The former police officers were found guilty of exceeding official powers (clause “e” part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). They each received three years probation with a three-year probationary period.
