On the air of the program “About Housing and Public Utilities,” Olga Loginova, Chairman of the Lipetsk Territory Development Department, told how citywide cleanup days are held.
Every week in Lipetsk the “Clean Thursday” campaign is held with the participation of employees of the administration and all subordinate institutions in public spaces. Active residents, businesses, industrial bases, and economic entities also come out to clean the city. This event was introduced last year on the initiative of Mayor Evgenia Uvarkina. The promotion runs for two months in autumn and spring.
At the moment, five “Maundy Thursdays” have already been held within the spring period. More than 15 thousand bags of garbage were collected. There are about 8 thousand participants.
On March 30 of this year, a new project “Making Lipetsk cleaner” was launched, in which university and college students take part. Active residents and business entities are involved in cleaning courtyard areas as part of the project. To date, four cleanup days have been held. April 27 will be the final one. All residents are invited to participate.
Olga Loginova explained the principle by which yards are selected for holding a cleanup day:
“First of all, we pay attention to the will of residents. We respond to those requests that are received not only by the Territory Development Department, but also by other structures of our administration. We also process complaints.”
To organize a cleanup day in their yard, residents can contact the council. Currently, the “Making Lipetsk Cleaner” project covers 109 territories.
