The project for reconstructing the retaining wall opposite houses No. 11 and No. 13 on Admiral Makarov Street has risen in price by almost 9 million rubles. This is evidenced by the recently signed contract for the second stage of design and survey work.

Let us remind you that the Moscow company Ecotector began carrying out engineering surveys and other types of work on the landslide-prone slope last summer. Meanwhile, the landslide, which began to threaten people due to the chaotic development of the slope back in Ukrainian times, continued to remind itself.

So, after a rainstorm in September, the soil began to move again, and a November hurricane completely moved the landslide close to the houses – the earth fell right onto the playground.

Local residents believe that without strengthening the slope can completely collapse, because there is only one small rainfall from the drainage system, and during the rains all the water ends up in this lowland, which provokes landslide processes.

Making a good drainage system is one of the designers’ priorities, noted the State Institution “Management for the Operation of Municipal Facilities”, where ForPost contacted for comment on the signing of the new contract. But additional funds – 8.9 million rubles – were needed for something else: the retaining wall itself near residential buildings should be significantly increased.

The thing is that during the work the contractor discovered an old foundation hidden in the ground, the length of which is 40 meters. It was decided to extend the existing wall by building a new protective structure on this foundation.

“In the process of carrying out design and survey work within the framework of the state contract for the project “Reconstruction of the retaining wall of the street. Admiral Makarov (opposite houses 11 and 13),” it was established that the length of the wall is an additional 40 meters. In connection with the increase in the parameters of the facility, an additional contract was concluded with the contractor for the second stage of design and survey work,” officials told ForPost.

According to those who ordered the work, this new wall will significantly help in strengthening the slope that threatens collapses near residential buildings. The contractor will also provide a drainage system in this area.

They plan to complete the work under the contract by the end of this year so that construction can begin next year. The project is financed from the Moscow budget.

In Sevastopol, this, alas, is not the only collapse-prone slope. Last month, soil once again fell onto the road from the slope above the Street of Heroes of Sevastopol.
