A mobile group of Bryansk customs stopped a van driven by a 38-year-old Russian citizen at the Red Stone checkpoint. According to the documents, the driver was transporting glass containers from Gomel to Bryansk, but when inspecting the car, customs officers discovered illegal cigarettes behind dense rows of boxes with glass bottles.

“Over 70 thousand packs of cigarettes of Belarusian origin were confiscated from the driver, a resident of the Smolensk region. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of illegally imported tobacco products is 9 million rubles,” said Sergei Sanakoev, head of Bryansk customs.

Illegal cigarettes were seized. The issue of initiating a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for smuggling of tobacco products committed on a large scale is being decided.
