With songs, pets and miracles, a family Library Night took place in “Read City”

On Friday, April 19, the 13th annual Library Night event took place across the country, which fell from the 19th to the 20th. And, of course, all the libraries of Veliky Novgorod joined it. We visited the Youth Library of the BC “Read-Gorod” and in the report we tell how family Novgorodians greeted the weekend of last week with literature and fun.

Let us note that the program of each institution was so interesting that it would be just right, as in JK Rowling’s famous fantasy, to use the “time flywheel” and visit all the sites at the same time. But the real world, unlike the literary one, is limited by rather strict boundaries: a miracle in it, of course, is possible, but without magic. However, it is not necessary, because even simple miracles in one small library happened so much at once that the impressions will last for a long time – both for the youngest visitors and older children, and, of course, for parents. A library cafe, a fantastic laboratory, a musical fantasy – and all this in the style of the fairy tale “The Town Musicians of Bremen”… However, first things first.

Natural miracle

Family Library Night began with fantastic experiments. A real family laboratory was set up on one of the sites, where the children were shown spectacular, but at the same time safe chemical and physical experiments. Young viewers were also asked to “decipher alien messages” by applying liquid to paper with an invisible pattern and developing the image.

“Children are very interested in such experiences – and our work experience shows this. We have long been interested in practical science, probably right from the moment a son appeared in the family. So the club came from a family. My son Sasha helps conduct interesting experiments, his wife Maryana also participates.”,” shared the head of the Megahertz Club of Entertaining Sciences, Maxim Kushmanov.

The fact that the son is simply helping is even said modestly! Sasha, despite his young age, proudly acts as a real scientist: with knowledge of the matter, brilliant artistry and, most importantly, genuine and therefore especially infectious interest. In short, the family laboratory did not leave anyone indifferent.

“Happiness to live such a fate!”

Then guests of different ages moved to the music and dance floor, where the children were invited to remember the good old fairy tale in an animated adaptation. After all, by the way, the Russian cartoon “The Bremen Town Musicians” is so good in many ways precisely for its songs: generations have grown up with them, and modern musicians also perform them with pleasure… Perhaps there is not a person who does not know at least one! And the interactive music lounge confirmed this.

Library staff together with the children told a fairy tale, improvised at musical moments, and the leader of the group “KrissKiss” Pavel Fedorov provided musical accompaniment. During the songs, children played along with simple musical instruments, sang along and could dance, and the bravest ones even came to the microphone.

“Any interesting cultural event has a positive effect on children if it is carried out by truly cultured people – you always want to follow an inspiring example. It is imperative to involve children in cultural leisure and guide them correctly. Even now I noticed that the spoiled kids, as soon as the interesting performance began, stopped playing around, got involved in the interaction themselves, actively participated – one might say, they “cultivated” before our eyes, – invited guest Pavel Fedorov jokingly noted; By the way, he also came with his wife and three small children.

And after the musical performance, Tatyana Pakhomova’s four-legged family – three Chihuahua dogs – came to the library. Since during Library Night everyone could transform into a fairy tale hero, Salt, Desi and Mint also had their own roles. Since their owner became a Princess, the dogs turned out to be maids of honor and, to the delight of children and adults, they demonstrated their skills and played with the children. At the end, the guests were treated to another musical gift – a show from young drummers from the KrapivkaDreamDram drum school.

Library night is for everyone

Of course, as for the guests, there were especially many young children – preschoolers or those who had recently started school. At first it seems a little surprising for a youth library, but in reality there is nothing strange.

“Our platform has traditionally always been the most musical, and, of course, very active. The first protests took place until three in the morning, then, of course, they began to “wind up” early, everything was noisy – until ten in the evening. This year, since it is the Year of the Family, it is literally children’s time, and there are many children. But parents are young people! And the events and halls are distributed like this: some are for children, and some are interesting for an older audience.”,” noted Svetlana Yorzh, head of the youth library at the “Read-Gorod” library center.

By the way, not only parents brought young guests to the holiday: some schoolchildren came to the library through their second “home,” that is, school. Like, for example, students of school No. 26 Diana Kuznetsova and Kristina Yalovaya. However, they, too, one might say, came with their young “cool mother” – geography teacher Natalya Vasilyeva.

“We were here in primary school, and now we also came through the school – the class teacher invited us to go. I liked the musical performance, dancing and singing – it was unexpected but great in the library,” – the girls shared.

My fifth-grader friends have different attitudes towards books, but they love reading one way or another and agree that it is important for overall development and the ability, for example, to formulate thoughts beautifully and competently. As for preferences: Christina has mastered Harry Potter, but Diana is calm about fiction, but reads with interest the medical reference books of her mother-doctor – a sudden choice for the fifth grade!

Of course, interests may be different – and that’s normal. Some people like science fiction, some like the world of sword and magic, and some like historical novels. Nowadays there is a lot of quality literature for every taste, the main thing is to look for your own. And the library will always help with this.
