On April 24, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, home front worker, and resident of Vesyegonsk, Irina Geraskina, turned 101 years old. Irina Ivanovna was born in the village of Ovinishchi, Vesyegonsky district. After graduating from seven-year school, she found a job as an accountant and worked her way up to senior accountant at the Zagotzerno enterprise. Here she worked until her retirement. During the war years, Irina Geraskina was engaged in collecting flax and firewood for schools and the village council, and worked on the construction of a military airfield. Among the awards are the medal “Veteran of Labor”, the medal “For Valiant Labor during the Great Patriotic War”.

Governor Igor Rudenya congratulated Irina Ivanovna on her birthday.

“Your life path sets an example of fidelity and constancy – you have worked all your life on the Vseyegonsk land, where you were born, without changing the profession that you once chose. Your labor valor and patriotism are an integral part of the feat of the generation of veterans who defended our country in the year of the Great Patriotic War,”
