In Voronezh, a 38-year-old local resident fictitiously registered four foreigners in her apartment on Minskaya Street, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region reported on Thursday, March 25.

Police from city police department No. 1 identified a violator of immigration laws during an inspection. As it turned out, in March of this year the man assisted citizens of neighboring states in registering.

Naturally, he did this not out of the kindness of his heart, but solely to receive a reward, the amount of which was not announced by the department. The Voronezh resident admitted to what he had done and said that he spent the money received in this way for personal needs.

Law enforcement officers opened a criminal case under Art. 322.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fictitious registration of a foreign citizen or stateless person at the place of stay in Russia”), which provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to three years. The citizen was given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior.
