Rostov region, April 25, 2024. DON24.RU. In Rostov, police detained a 31-year-old local resident suspected of fraudulent housing rental schemes and theft. The defendant rented an apartment from the victim, and when the time came to pay for housing, he decided to move out secretly from him. Empty-handed, he decided not to leave – he took with him a TV, a microwave oven and a vacuum cleaner, which he took to a pawnshop. The incident was reported in the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov Region.

The amount of damage from the items handed over was estimated at 80 thousand rubles. The police also established that before leaving, the man found other tenants and, introducing himself as the owner of the property, demanded to pay for the accommodation in advance.

“The detainee spent the money obtained by criminal means for his own needs. The total amount of damage was about 150 thousand rubles,” the source reports.

Criminal cases were opened against the suspect on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft” and Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code “Fraud”. A preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior.
