Doctors performed endoscopic surgery. This is not just the story of the fight against cancer, but also a vivid example of how important it is to be examined and undergo medical examination on time.

The patient is a native of the Kirillovsky district. I have never been seriously ill in my entire life and have never been in the hospital.

“I had no time to be sick: I had service in the navy, raising children, worked as a blacksmith for 25 years, and was involved in sports all my life. Two years ago, the local doctor insisted on medical examination. I am an obedient person. It’s necessary, it means it’s necessary,”– says the man.

The result of the medical examination was an elevated PSA, suspicion of prostate cancer.

“I had 19 radiotherapy sessions. The treatment ended positively. PSA is still at zero. But problems with the intestines began. During a colonoscopy, the doctor discovered a polyp. I was again admitted to the dispensary. I was worried that I wouldn’t have time to recover by the holiday season,” the patient said.

Vologda specialists performed removal of a benign rectal tumor using the modern TEO technique.

“Surgery in old age is a big test for the body. Therefore, we selected the optimal and non-traumatic treatment method for the patient – transanal endoscopic removal of the rectal mass (TEO). TEO is a team effort of trained surgeons, endoscopists, anesthesiologists, radiologists and pathologists. Under general anesthesia under video control with an ultrasonic scalpel, the formation was removed, the material was sent for histology,” – said oncologist Andrei Voskresensky.

The man noted that after the operation he did not experience any pain or discomfort.

“Thanks for my health to doctors Sergei Olegovich Okhapkin, Andrei Andreevich Reizman and Andrei Andreevich Voskresensky, anesthesiologists, nurses and orderlies,” – the discharged patient thanked the staff.
