The head of the administration spoke about sports projects implemented last year

In Murmansk, the share of residents who regularly engage in sports has increased to 56.1%. This was announced by the head of the Murmansk administration Yuri Serdechkin.

The city hosted many major sporting events last year. Thus, more than 11 thousand people took part in the Gulf Stream sports festival. The traditional competition “The Ski Track is Calling” was also held.

Separately, Yuri Serdechkin noted the “Five Lakes” project. He thanked the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Deputies, Irina Andreeva, for the implementation. The project involves the creation of ski slopes on Semenovskoye, Bolshoy, Sredny, Glubokoye, and Bezymyanny lakes.

In addition, last year, work was completed on the creation of a football field at the Avangard city sports center, the sports ground on Maklakova Street was overhauled, and the Yunost stadium was reconstructed.

In total, in 2023, Murmansk sports schools trained 871 category athletes. 24 athletes are included in the list of candidates for the Russian sports team in 11 sports.
