The sowing of most crops in the Lipetsk region began earlier than last year. As of April 25, 295 thousand hectares (84% of the area) were sown with spring grain and leguminous crops. 128 thousand hectares (83%) are sown with spring wheat, 136 thousand hectares (88%) with barley, and 25.5 thousand hectares (86%) with peas. 76% of the area is sown with lupine. The sowing of oats is completed.

The sowing of corn for grain began in eight regions and districts. 8 thousand hectares have already been sown. As of the same date, only 500 hectares were sown with corn, despite the fact that farmers also started sowing at the end of April.

Soybean planting is underway in the Gryazinsky, Dankovsky, Dobrinsky, Eletsk and Terbunsky districts. Its area this year will increase to a record 200 thousand hectares. So far, 3 thousand hectares have been sown. Last year, as of this date, soybeans had not yet been sown.

Sugar beet planting is also progressing at an accelerated pace. 64% (74 thousand hectares) of the area have already been sown. In 2023, the figure for the same period is 52%. In total, 116 thousand hectares were allocated for sugar beets.

30 thousand hectares out of 60 thousand planned were sown with spring rape. Sunflower is located on 60 thousand hectares (31% versus 19% a year earlier). 6 thousand hectares out of 11 thousand planned were sown with annual grasses.

“The weather helps Lipetsk farmers, and they themselves are not wasting their time. They work conscientiously. The indicators are good,” said Lipetsk Region Governor Igor Artamonov.
