Specialists of Rosseti Volga PJSC – Ulyanovsk Distribution Networks continue to work to identify and suppress the facts of unmetered and non-contractual energy consumption of electricity. Based on the results of the first three months of 2024, 118 cases of energy theft in the amount of 696.5 thousand kWh were recorded and suppressed.

Energy workers committed 89 acts of theft against individuals and legal entities who “appropriated” electricity worth 578.2 thousand kWh. In addition, electricians of the balance and electricity metering sections drew up 29 acts on non-contractual consumption for 118.3 thousand kWh. The total damage to the electric grid company caused by the actions of energy thieves amounted to more than 1.5 million rubles.

Every year, for dozens of Russians, attempts to illegally connect to the power grid result in severe injuries and death due to electric shock. If loose bare wires fall to the ground, a step voltage will be generated and any passerby may be electrocuted.

A connection installed bypassing the meter does not have overload protection; poor contacts and wiring pose a risk of fire in the home of the intruder and his neighbors. Knowing about violations of energy consumption by neighbors and turning a blind eye to it, consumers risk not only the quality and uninterrupted power supply in the house, but also their own safety and health.

Specialists of the Ulyanovsk RS branch appeal to residents of the region with a convincing request: to report all cases of unauthorized connection to electrical networks or unauthorized interference in the operation of electrical equipment by calling the unified contact center of the Rosseti group 8-800-220-0-220, the helpline branch “Ulyanovsk Distribution Networks” 8(8422) 61-36-46 or at the Distribution Zone at your place of residence. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
