Release of the revised edition of the book “Do you remember how cadet Gagarin walked through our streets?“with the support of the government of the Orenburg region is dedicated to the International Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics, established by the UN General Assembly in honor of the first human flight into space.
Orenburg authors Vyacheslav Ryabov and Viktor Shabrin talk in detail about the stages of Yuri Gagarin’s life: his studies in Lyubertsy, Saratov, military school in Orenburg, service in the North, preparation and execution of the first space flight, about his family.
In addition, the book contains memories of colleagues and stories telling about the cosmonaut’s meetings with teachers and instructors of the Orenburg Higher Military Aviation School and cadets of the school for young cosmonauts.
The third edition includes the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin “On the establishment of the Order of Gagarin” dated May 27, 2023 and the Decree “On awarding the Order of Gagarin to V.V. Tereshkova.» dated June 16, 2023, and also published addresses to readers by the Governor of the Orenburg Region Denis Pasler and three Orenburg Hero-Cosmonauts Yuri Romanenko, Gennady Manakov and Roman Romanenko.
The authors supported the idea of the regional government to transfer the book to the libraries of educational institutions and municipalities of the Orenburg region. The publication will be of interest to historians, local historians, journalists, as well as a wide range of interested readers, especially the youth of our region.
