According to investigators, Zubov handed over a briefcase containing 18 million rubles. to an FSB officer in the Vintage cafe behind the elevator on the third floor of the shopping center. Karpov and Ermakov were also present and actively participated in the discussion.

As the Volga News journalist was told in the shopping center, the security forces knew in advance that there would be a meeting and mounted a video camera on the wall near the lamp. The trio was drinking coffee with an FSB officer who was participating in an operational experiment when masked operatives ran in. The exit from the “closed zone” was blocked. Zubov was put in handcuffs against the wall, and the money was poured onto the table for counting.

It was previously reported that in 2016, based on materials from the FSB, Karpov was convicted of illegal production and sale of crude oil (Part 2 of Article 171 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: “Illegal entrepreneurship”). Ermakov – appeared in a criminal case about bribes to FSB officers. For receiving bribes from the same oil depot, Samara FSB officers Sergei Gudovanny and Pavel Chermashentsev were detained and subsequently convicted. Moreover, Gudovany was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

“TNP” is located in the village. Rich. It owns the rights to the Kommunarskoye oil field in the Kinelsky region. Moreover, the oil depot is located in close proximity to residential buildings. Villagers have repeatedly complained to supervisory authorities about the smell of hydrogen sulfide.

Now Ermakov is also a witness in a criminal case of transferring a bribe to other employees of the FSB Directorate for the Samara Region – Ivan Gudkov and Mikhail Gorbunov. Ex-Interior Ministry employee Mikhail Vovchenko was accused of giving them one of the bribes charged by the investigation.

As explained to the Volga News journalist in the Kirovsky District Court of Samara, the verdict in the Zubov-Ermakov-Karpov case should be announced on April 27. It is planned that journalists will be allowed to attend the verdict.

The meetings themselves, as well as the debates between the parties, were held behind closed doors. The court was unable to explain what punishment was requested for the defendants in the case. But, according to Volga News sources, the state prosecution demands that everyone be sentenced to real terms of imprisonment, “corresponding to especially serious elements of the crime.” The prosecutor’s office requested the longest sentence—14 years—for Ermakov.
