In the first quarter of the year, over 2.2 million people were transported from St. Petersburg by long-distance trains – almost 300 thousand, or 15.8 percent more passengers than in the first quarter of last year, the press service of the Transport Committee reported today. Suburban trains carried more than 13.8 million passengers, which is 11.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
In the first three months, electric trains transported almost 7.2 million people along three routes. The growth of passenger traffic in the direction “St. Petersburg – Pavlovsk” in comparison with 2023 was 9.3 percent, on the route “St. Petersburg – Oranienbaum” – 16.2 percent, and in the direction to Krasnoe Selo – 16.7 percent.
In terms of air transportation, Pulkovo is the fourth airport in Russia in terms of the number of passengers served, after the Moscow aviation hub. During the quarter, Pulkovo served about 4.2 million passengers, which is eight percent more than the figure for the period of 2023. On domestic lines, passenger traffic amounted to 3.4 million passengers, on international lines – 787 thousand.
Earlier, the Petersburg Diary reported that in St. Petersburg, more than ten million passengers were checked for compliance with fare payment rules.
