Regional Rospotrebnadzor gave residents of the Kostroma region recommendations on choosing Easter cakes and other products for Easter. When purchasing, you should always pay attention to the expiration date of the product, experts reminded.

You should choose a holiday cake with a dry top: otherwise it will disappear prematurely. The glaze should not be sticky and whitish, and the baked goods themselves should not be burnt. There should also be no breaks, unevenness or voids on the surface of the cake.

When buying cottage cheese Easter, it is worth considering that the product does not undergo heat treatment and is stored for only three days in the refrigerator. If you decide to cook Easter yourself, choose white cottage cheese with a soft, uniform consistency. You should buy fermented milk products in a store, not from your hands.

Table eggs can only be stored in the refrigerator for 8 to 25 days. However, dietary eggs have a shorter shelf life – only a week. Experts also noted that you should not paint eggs in advance. When boiled, they can be stored for no more than 36 hours. Washing eggs is also not recommended. Clean eggs will need to be eaten in the first 12 days, after which they will spoil.
