Contractors began updating it as soon as weather conditions permitted.

City road markings experience the same stress as the road surface itself: every day thousands of cars cross the lines, of course, they are erased. Every year in Nizhny Novgorod, work is carried out to update the markings. And this one was no exception.

Nikolay Mamonov – Director of the Municipal Budgetary Institution “Specialized Installation and Operational Management”:

“In Nizhny Novgorod, 353 streets are subject to marking. 3 stages involve applying plastic. Stage 1 – these are the main roads – the city center. Stage 2 includes social facilities and secondary roads. And stage 3 is where the guarantee comes out in the fall.”

202 thousand sq. meters of road markings will be applied this year, of which almost 93 square meters are thermoplastic. meters, paint – 47 sq. meters, plastic – more than 62 square meters. Basically all work is carried out at night.

Sergey Bogatyrev – Deputy General Director of the contractor company:

“We currently have a small list, but it will grow. The streets where we have almost finished applying thermoplastic are Minin Street, Varvarskaya Street, Nizhne-Volzhskaya Embankment, Blagoveshchenskaya Square, Pokhvalinsky Congress and Bolshaya Pokrovskaya. These are streets where 98% of the markings are actually in place.”

The volume of plastic markings applied is increasing annually—this season its share is up to 84%. Thermoplastic has unique wear-resistant properties and is resistant to temperature changes and meteorological influences.

Nikolay Mamonov – Director of the Municipal Budgetary Institution “Specialized Installation and Operational Management”:

“The Nizhny Novgorod Road Safety Commission considered the issue of ensuring road safety at pedestrian crossings near social facilities and a decision was made. Yuri Vladimirovich Shalabaev supported this decision – applying thermoplastic markings at all pedestrian crossings on social facilities.”

Work to optimize traffic flow continues. This year, the city will modernize 28 traffic lights and replace about 1,800 road signs on galvanized posts.
