In Kaliningrad, an ambulance driver became disabled after an attack by a drunken idiot on a medical team

In Kaliningrad, a drunken idiot attacked an ambulance crew who was trying to help him on the steps of a restaurant. The ambulance driver became disabled, but a year later the culprit has not been punished. Klops was looking into what happened.

Fatal day in April

41-year-old Stanislav K. has worked in the ambulance since 2017. He remembered well the day when a healthy man suddenly became disabled – April 30, 2023.

The call came in around 10 a.m. – a man had become ill on Karl Marx. Arriving at the place, Stanislav and paramedic Valery saw a man lying on the steps of the restaurant; the administrator of the establishment called an ambulance.

“According to the instructions, the driver must help with transportation, so I also approached the victim. The patient did not react to those around him, he had an abrasion on his head,” recalls Stanislav.

The paramedic brought cotton wool with ammonia to the wounded man’s nose and headed to the car for hydrogen peroxide. Stanislav fanned the man lying with a napkin, trying to bring him to his senses.

Felt pain and crunch in my shoulder

The man stirred and tried to sit up. Stanislav helped, and then the patient jumped to his feet.

With a cry of “Fuck you!” he started hitting me with his fists.

The first blow hit the head. I managed to grab him by the chest and tried to push him away from me, but the blows continued to land on the back of his head and neck. He tortured me for about a minute. Then a paramedic ran up and wanted to protect him, but was kicked in the groin and fell. Other people tried to intervene. The attacker sharply twisted my arm, and I found myself with my back to him.

“I felt a sharp pain and crunch in the area of ​​the shoulder blade and shoulder.”

Stanislav managed to break free and ran into the car to call for help on the radio. The paramedic rushed after him. The bully pulled the cabin door and, swearing, continued to beat the medic. He was not embarrassed by the passers-by who observed this ugly scene. Stanislav managed to report the emergency and block the doors.

The paramedic told Klops that he briefly lost consciousness after the first blow. According to Valery, a passer-by with a boy of about six tried to drag the attacker away, but he kicked the child.

When Stanislav blocked the car doors, the aggressor ran away. Soon the police detained him on Festival Alley.

They brought the man to the car, and he said that it was the first time he had seen us!”

The attacker was detained, and both ambulance officers were questioned and taken to the hospital. Stanislav did not understand whether the attacker was drunk or under the influence of some substances: “He was clearly not himself. Later we found out that he was involved in martial arts.”

“The operation will be in 2025, while I am disabled”

At the hospital, both men were diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries and a concussion. Stanislav’s tendons, ligaments, and shoulder muscles were torn.

“There was terrible pain, my shoulder was swollen, I couldn’t move my arm. But the worst thing is that the emergency hospital sent me with the words: I need an operation, which they don’t do here, you need to go to the federal center.

I passed the commission, received a certificate, and the waiting list for the operation is already 2025!

I had to apply for disability. I can’t lift my hand, I’m on painkillers and receive a pension of about 10 thousand rubles, and I have two children,” Stanislav adds that the Ministry of Health and the ambulance help with medications.

The lawyer helped the paramedic, Stanislav’s colleague, negotiate with the attacker about compensation for damages, after which the doctor abandoned the claims. According to Valery, he spent too much time, energy and nerves on litigation.
Stanislav is still seeking a fair trial, even without knowing what stage the criminal investigation is at.

Didn’t pay for sick leave and insurance

Lawyer Dmitry Matyazh says that Stanislav contacted him four months after the incident. It turned out that the man underwent a forensic medical examination at his own expense; the police did not even give him a referral.

For four months, Stanislav was not paid for sick leave and could not file a report of an industrial accident.

After my complaints, the prosecutor’s office intervened – they began to pay for sick leave and issued a report. Stanislav still hasn’t received insurance – the insurance company keeps asking for new certificates. The “concern” of the Ministry of Health cannot be criticized either: to perform an operation on an ambulance employee only in 2025!” – the lawyer is indignant.

According to Dmitry, a criminal case was opened on August 4, 2023 under Part 1 of Art. 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of moderate harm to health”). The maximum penalty is three years behind bars. In the documents, the attacker appears as an “unidentified person.”

“We were given the decree recognizing the victim only on September 6th. I am not aware of other procedural decisions.

According to the investigator, the suspect went to sea until November. In November it turned out that he would return in January.”

Dmitry Matyazh filed several complaints to the prosecutor’s office. The supervisory authority recognized the arguments about the ineffective organization of the investigation as justified.

“However, during this time nothing has changed. It turns out that the person who provided emergency assistance cannot receive help from the state,” the defense lawyer states.

The editors turned for comments to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kaliningrad region, where they asked to send an official request and promised to respond within the time limits established by law.

Klops sent information requests to the Ministry of Health and the insurance company with a request to explain why, a year later, Stanislav cannot receive high-tech medical care and insurance payments.
