The results of the XVII All-Russian Intellectual Tournament of Geography Experts were summed up in Krasnodar. This year, 913 teams from 67 regions of Russia took part in it. The winner of the competition was the team from Yekaterinburg. And the “Heliopolis” team from Samara gymnasium No. 133 received “silver” (mentor – geography teacher Vera Malinovskaya)

In the first round, the teams determined the azimuth of the tourist route, calculated the distance traveled by the ship, and calculated the height of the sun above the horizon. The tasks of the second round were illustrated with postcards issued as part of a joint project of the Russian Geographical Society and Russian Post. The questions concerned the geographical location of the regions represented on the postcards, natural and cultural heritage sites. The captains were offered tasks and questions on their general geographical knowledge.

Over the years of holding the Tournament of Geography Experts by the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, more than 14 thousand people from 75 regions became its participants. The main prize for the winners is a trip to Russia. In 2019, the team set off along the sea route from Sochi to Sevastopol on board the cruise ship “Prince Vladimir”. Since 2021, the best experts in geography have undergone an educational and cultural program at the Krasnaya Polyana Resort. In 2023, in the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory, a school was opened for the winners of the XVI All-Russian Intellectual Tournament of Geography Experts. In 2023, the winners of the All-Russian intellectual competition of the Russian Geographical Society “The Bluest in the World…” took a cruise on the Black Sea on the liner Astoria Grande. A team of schoolchildren visited one of the oldest cities in Turkey – Istanbul.
