A new standard of medical care for adults with acute respiratory viral infections has been approved in Russia. In particular, antibiotics are excluded from the recommendations.

According to the 360 TV channel, on March 18, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko signed an order “On approval of the standard of medical care for adults with acute respiratory viral infections (diagnosis and treatment)” and canceled a similar document from 2013.

The document expands the list of procedures for diagnosing ARVI with several items, for example, consultation with a hematologist and pulmonologist.

The Ministry of Health has added pulse oximetry to the instrumental research methods.

In addition, the antiviral drug Kagocel was included in the list of drugs for treatment, but broad-spectrum antibiotics were excluded.

Let us remind you that earlier the Russian Ministry of Health updated recommendations for the treatment and prevention of coronavirus. The department indicated that COVID-19 is becoming a seasonal infection, and the symptoms of the disease have become more similar to ARVI.
