The gazebo with the St. Michael’s Clock will return to its historical place on Revolution Avenue. Their elements have already begun to be manufactured at the plant of the Voronezh manufacturer – 3D Complex LLC. Mayor Vadim Kstenin announced this on Thursday, April 25, in his Telegram channel.
Let us remember that at the end of the nineteenth century gazebo with clock was located near the store of merchant Nikolai Mikhailov, who installed it at his own expense. Social activists came up with the idea of returning the art object to its rightful place, and Vadim Kstenin supported it.
According to the head of the city, some changes were made during the design process and at the manufacturing stage to replicate the historical appearance as accurately as possible. In addition, to make the structure lighter, the gazebo will be made of durable cast iron, not wood.
All work is carried out with the participation author of the project, member of the Union of Architects, Vladimir Chesnokov. The issue of the appearance of the roof is now being resolved. If you use standard elements, the ornament itself will look too rough.
Of course, the main element is the heart of the watch – the mechanism. The design of the clock tower and the mechanism itself was helped by Voronezh master Anatoly Strukov. It is necessary not only to preserve the historical appearance, but also to have a working clock and the ability to service it.
— The city budget does not bear the costs of implementing this project. It is paid for by responsible businesses, for which we thank them very much. After all, the very idea of the “Mikhailovsky Clock” in the past was exactly that – then the gazebo became a gift to the city from patrons of the arts,” noted the head of the city, Vadim Kstenin.
