The environmental prosecutor’s office of St. Petersburg conducted an investigation into the illegal use of the water area of the Fontanka River. We are talking about the reconstruction of a section of the embankment near the Anichkov Bridge in the city center.
According to the supervisory agency, the inspection showed that the contractor missed the deadline for the overhaul of the Fontanka River embankment opposite 31-35. Work there continues, despite the fact that at the end of November 2023, the Committee for Natural Resources, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety of St. Petersburg received a notification about the completion of work and the removal of equipment. At the same time, the organization did not apply for a new permit to provide the water body for use. Kommersant reports this.
The environmental prosecutor made a representation to the management of the joint-stock company that committed the violations. Elimination of violations is under the control of the department, the message clarifies.
