In Samara, preparations are being completed for the construction of a new municipal cemetery. It will be placed near the southern outskirts of the city, near the village of Voskresenka, Volzhsky district. Vladislav Zotov, head of the department of economic development, investment and trade, told Volga News about this.

“Design work on Voskresenka has been completed. The area of the cemetery is 40 hectares of land. If funding is available, we will begin arranging the cemetery in the near future,” said Vladislav Zotov.

Another municipal cemetery is planned to be built on the northern outskirts of Samara – in the village of Yasnaya Polyana, which is located behind the Mega shopping center. Design work is planned for 2025.

According to the head of the department, the construction of crematoriums in these cemeteries is not planned.

“Of course, such a facility is necessary for a city with a population of one million. It will not only reduce the need to find vast plots of land for burials, but will also reduce the cost of funeral services on the market. However, within the boundaries of Samara, the construction of a crematorium is not possible. It requires a large sanitary and protective zone, and there are no suitable sites in the city. But if such a facility appears in the Samara region, it will benefit Samara,” explained Vladislav Zotov.

At the same time, the department will have to restore order in existing cemeteries. Illegal burials were discovered in the village of Rubezhnoye. The department is solving the problem.
