Author of State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company “TAMBOV” Today, as part of the month of safety, the state traffic inspectorate went on a raid to check how responsibly pedestrians treat traffic rules. The crew stopped on one of the streets in the northern part of Tambov and watched how many Tambov residents would cross the road in the wrong place.

In the mornings, traffic on the city streets is especially busy. Tambov residents are rushing to work, to run errands, to take their children to kindergarten or school. Many people prefer to shorten routes in order to save a couple of minutes. For example, when crossing a roadway. One of the problem areas in the northern part of Tambov is located near the intersection of Ryleev and Chicherin. Many pedestrians complain about its inconvenience.

– Previously, the crossing here was in a wonderful place, people kept walking and there were no problems.

– Either cross at that traffic light, which kilometer to go, or do the same thing at this one. Therefore, they made it very inconvenient for people.

– So here, it turns out, the traffic lights are very far from each other?

– Very far. That’s why people constantly violate. They have to break.

To check the consciousness of citizens, traffic police officers were on duty in the early morning just between these two traffic lights. Pedestrians, seeing people in uniform and shoulder straps, suddenly changed their minds about crossing the road in the wrong place and regularly reached the three-color traffic controller.

“We had a stop here on this section, now they’ve moved it to that corner.” Not comfortable at all. There you go – back here and from there. There was such beauty in the middle. I could go there and here.

Not only passengers, but also drivers are at risk if the rules for crossing the roadway are violated. Someone may not expect that in the middle of the road, for example, from behind cars parked at the side of the road, a person will run out and not have time to brake.

– Then we remain to blame if we got caught or something. They are still running around with their phones, not looking at the road at all. Why should we be responsible for their lives?

Or it may be that, trying to avoid a collision with a pedestrian, the car owner suddenly moves into oncoming traffic and an accident is practically unavoidable.

Over the past period of 2024, we have recorded 16 accidents involving pedestrians, in which 1 pedestrian was killed and 17 were injured of varying degrees of severity,
