At the 60th meeting of the Tula Regional Duma, during the report of Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Larina, the issue of a landfill, which could pose great danger and harm to residents of the region, was raised.

Alexander Balberov, deputy chairman of the regional Duma, after Tatyana Larina’s speech, proposed raising the issue of a solid waste landfill located on the border with the Tula region, not far from the Venevsky district. According to the deputy, due to the close proximity to the M-6 federal highway, garbage from the landfill scatters in different directions, including onto the road. This can cause serious accidents and dangerous situations for drivers.

He also noted that as summer approaches, all the unpleasant odors and other “delights” will be heard from the landfill to nearby settlements, including Tula.

– The landfill is already more than 48 meters high, and this is not the limit. It will continue to grow and grow, so we need to take some measures. Although this is the prerogative of the Moscow government, we, for our part, can help in this matter,” said Alexander Balberov.

Tatyana Larina agreed with the problem and, for her part, promised to organize a working meeting with deputies to consider the issue in more detail.

– I propose to organize interaction with the government of the Moscow region, with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Moscow Region, and, if necessary, then involve the Commissioner of Russia. Let’s have a working meeting. I’m ready to connect and solve further issues,” Larina noted.

Earlier at the meeting, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said that more than 4.7 thousand unauthorized waste disposal sites have been identified in the Tula region.

According to him, 99 percent of these landfills with solid waste have already been liquidated. Thus, three landfills were reclaimed in the village of Kamenka in the Kimovsky district and Slavny in the Belevsky district. 122 new container sites were equipped.
