--

On Thursday, April 25, Governor Dmitry Azarov took part in the opening ceremony of the distribution center of the X5 Group company on the territory of the Preobrazhenka 2 logistics park in the Volzhsky district. The construction of the facility made it possible to attract more than 3.5 billion rubles of investment and in the future will create over 1,300 new jobs for residents of the region.

The regional distribution center was built thanks to agreements reached between the Governor of the Samara Region Dmitry Azarov and the management of the Russian company X5 Group at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June last year. The head of the region noted that the project was implemented in a short time.

“I am very glad that the company has become our reliable partner and, through joint efforts, we managed to implement this project in a short time, – said Dmitry Azarov at the opening ceremony of the center. — Less than a year has passed since we shook hands, and the facility is already ready and working for the benefit of the people, the company’s employees, all residents of the Samara region and beyond, since this center provides a commodity distribution network to the surrounding regions. I thank everyone who was involved in the implementation of the project and congratulate the entire workforce of the center.”

Currently, the center employs 550 people, and in the future it will employ more than 1,300 specialists. The developer’s investments in the construction of the facility amounted to more than 3.5 billion rubles. The governor emphasized that systematic work has been underway in the Samara region over the past few years to create conditions for attracting investment.

“And this facility, which we are opening today, once again illustrates that our efforts have an end result , – said Dmitry Azarov. — I thank our partners for their cooperation and for choosing the Samara region for their investments. I want to assure you that you made the right decision. We are ready to continue creating conditions for business development in the region, including expanding the region’s logistics capabilities.”

X5 Group operates large grocery retail chains, in particular Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Chizhik, as well as a number of digital grocery and logistics services. The distribution center with an area of 73 thousand square meters will allow manufacturers to expand the geography and volume of delivery to stores; it will supply grocery stores of the X5 Group chain in the Samara region and other regions. The new center provides additional opportunities for commodity producers in the Samara region to sell their products.

“This is an additional synergistic effect that the Samara region will receive along with an increase in people’s well-being and tax revenues “, – noted the governor.

X5 Group’s choice of the Samara region as a place to implement this project is due to the fact that the region has created comfortable conditions for investors and business development, a number of investment sites have been built where residents are provided with support measures. Igor Perlin, the founder of SamaraTransAuto 2000 LLC, one of the investors and participants in the construction of the facility, thanked the region for its support in the implementation of the project.

“On an unprepared site, documents and a building permit were quickly issued. It was very difficult in terms of networks, energy, gas, and other things. The opening of this center is a huge contribution to the development of the region and the formation Samara as a logistics center” – said Igor Perlin.

Executive Director of the “South” territory of the retail chain “Pyaterochka» Stanislav Sheinsky also noted the assistance provided by the region in the construction of the center. He added that the facility opened in the Samara region is the second in importance and area for the company after the distribution center in Moscow.

The favorable geographical location of the Samara region, the presence of large transport interchanges, and convenient access to major transport routes are also important for investors.

“Yes, we have a unique, advantageous geographical location, but only in recent years have we learned to use this for the benefit of the residents of the Samara region , – said the head of the region. And, of course, the commissioning of a new highway and bridge across the Volga will provide a powerful new impetus to the economy of our region and the creation of such enterprises. This year we will definitely put the bridge into operation. I know that investors, when choosing the location of this center, took into account this most important factor.”

Dmitry Azarov recalled that at the end of 2023, the Samara region achieved record levels of investment – 516.6 billion rubles. This is almost 2 times more than in 2018. 31 new production facilities were put into operation. Only large and medium-sized enterprises opened 11.7 thousand new jobs (21.5% more than a year earlier).

“Investments are a foundation for the future. Those investments that are made today begin to work most effectively, as a rule, after 2-3 years. This means that our region has a future. Our region is now demonstrating faster rates of development, compared even to the average figures for all constituent entities of the Russian Federation. We do not intend to reduce this pace in the future. Of course, we will once again create conditions for investments to come to our region, and therefore from new enterprises were founded” “, the governor noted.

Currently, industrial parks “Preobrazhenka”, “Chapayevsk”, logistics parks “Preobrazhenka 2“, “Novosemeikino”, as well as an industrial park in the Togliatti SEZ, created on the initiative and with the direct participation of the Government of the Samara Region. Work is underway on a project to create a new industrial park “Samara” in the Krasnoglinsky district of the regional center.

Thanks to the efforts of regional authorities, the transport and logistics cluster of the economy has received a powerful impetus for development in recent years. In the Samara region, logistics centers of Russian Post, OZON and Yandex Market marketplaces, the largest retail chains, were opened, and construction of the Wildberries logistics complex is underway.
