During the week from April 17 to April 23, 61 cases of tick bites were registered in the Novosibirsk region. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.
The largest number of cases were recorded in the Maslyaninsky (5) and Iskitimsky (5) districts of the region, as well as in Bersdka (5 cases). 8 people were bitten by ticks in Novosibirsk in the Zaeltsovsky (3), Leninsky (3) and Oktyabrsky (2) districts. Seven more residents of the region were bitten by ticks in other regions.
In total, since the beginning of the epidemic season in the Novosibirsk region, 85 people have already contacted medical organizations about tick bites.
41 ticks were examined for the presence of pathogens of viral encephalitis – without positive results. Borreliosis pathogens were detected in five out of 37 ticks delivered to the laboratory.
To protect against the consequences of bites, residents of the region are recommended to receive preventive vaccinations.
“Monitoring of the situation regarding the incidence of tick-borne infections and the preventive measures taken is under the control of the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Novosibirsk Region,” the department clarified.
