After that, he pleased (or not so much) the court with his skills in versification. The head of the United Press Service of the Courts of St. Petersburg, Daria Lebedeva, spoke in more detail on Thursday, April 25.

The Krasnogvardeisky District Court of St. Petersburg decided the fate of the accused of theft. In March 2023, he, using a broken lock on the door to an apartment located on the 19th floor of a building on Korneya Chukovsky Street, entered the home and stole a bathtub worth 3 thousand rubles and an electric stove worth 7 thousand rubles. The man fled with the stolen goods and sold everything for scrap.

A criminal case was opened. At the hearing, the defendant read poetry to the court. He was found guilty – the poet agreed. Now the man will be sent to a general regime penal colony for almost 3 years.

To steal a bathtub and an electric stove from the 19th floor and disappear with them in an unknown direction, in my opinion, you need to have a certain talent. At the court hearing, it turned out that Dmitry was also a poet… The third (Dmitry had already heard sentences twice before this) last chance, the court estimated at 2 years 8 months in a general regime penal colony.

The head of the United Press Service of the Courts of St. Petersburg also published the text of a poem written for the court.

“Here I stand before you, you will judge me.

And the verdict will be broadcast with my lips, I will listen to you, judge.

And I won’t say nasty words to you, I won’t utter curses,

I am ready to cry for my sins, I am not a supporter of understanding them.

I almost went crazy while preparing for the trial.

Giving a chance is not a lot of work, I don’t want to go to prison again.

You have seen the villains here, the souls destroying the bodies of the innocent,

Those who are not ready to bear the cross, having gone through those long paths of suffering.

We make all the mistakes, we pay with time for them,

Our actions are too bad, I want the wind of anger to subside.

May goodness surround you, and may your children be happy.

I don’t want to go to the bottom and end up in prison snares.

I ask you to give me one last chance, as the air will be there now.

I would shed tears from my eyes, but these are trifles for you.

I give you my word, I am a man, that from now on I will honor the law.

You don’t need a reason for that, I don’t want to go to prison.

And may the Lord protect you, all your relatives and children,

I don’t want to go back again to where time beats people,”

Dmitry Artamonov.
