Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education at Novosibirsk State University Sergei Yevtushenko is suspected of taking a bribe. On Thursday, April 25, the Sovetsky District Court of Novosibirsk chose a preventive measure for him.

According to investigators, the physical education teacher received a bribe in the amount of 21 thousand rubles from one of the students. The young man personally transferred the money to the teacher from January 2020 to April 2023 under the guise of payment for the use of the gym. Meanwhile, law enforcement officers are confident that in fact, for this amount, the teacher gave the student tests in physical education, although he did not attend classes.

The investigation considered the bribe, despite its modest size, “a crime against state power, the interests of the civil service” and asked to take the teacher into custody while the investigation was underway. However, the court decided that this was too harsh a requirement and left Sergei Yevtushenko under house arrest until June 22.

The court ruling has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed.

Let us remind you that previously teachers from the medical university were caught taking such small bribes. The physical education teacher seems to have become the first NSU teacher to be suspected of bribery.
